APPLICATION

Model 4100 DC Electronic Loads are designed for use within the S300 Modular Power System. These highly versatile electronic loads may be used in any combination together with programmable DC power supplies within the same 6-slot chassis. The use of such wide-capability power modules yields more flexibility, less rack space and lower cost than an assortment of individual DC electronic loads and programmable DC supplies, each having a more limited voltage and current range.

BROAD OPERATING ENVELOPE

To cover the full spectrum of unit-under-test output voltages, the Model 4100 DC Electronic Load operates at full current from 2.1 to 450 V. To meet low voltage requirements, the Model 4110 DC Electronic Load operates down to 0.7 V with an upper limit of 80 VDC. In the constant-current mode, both loads provide three ranges in order to assure the necessary low-end resolution for both set and measurement values.

ADVANCED MEASURMENT LOAD

The new 4200 DC-Electronic Load contains an additional measurement circuit that captures UUT-output waveforms for display and analysis. This capability yields several types of voltage, current and timing measurements to be made in a single test step. When used on a multiple output power supply, the loads can be synchronized to provide a wide variety of output-to-output timing measurements.

PARALLELED VIRTUAL DC LOADS

To address higher power requirements, the same type (4100, 4110 or 4200s) can be paralleled in software to respond as a single, larger load. All load functions, including slew rate and short-circuit, are then internally synchronized so that the unit-under-test sees a single "virtual" DC load without the usual dynamic discontinuities associated with paralleling older designs. Should the next application require a different load grouping, reconfiguration is quickly achieved through reprogramming, along with corresponding fixture adjustments, thus extending the system's flexibility with a minimum number of electronic load modules.
